Today, NASA beamed The Beatles' song "Across the Universe" across the universe. So what brought about this intergalactic party?
Forty years ago today, The Beatles recorded "Across the Universe" at Abbey Road Studios.
Fifty years ago today, NASA was founded. Within the same week, the first US Satellite was launched. And in mid-1958, John, Paul and George came together and became the then drummerless Beatles.
The song was beamed in the direction of the North Star and is expected to reach its destination in 431 years.

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind,
Possessing and caressing me.
Jai guru deva, om,
Nothing's gonna change my world,
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on across the universe,
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Jai guru deva, om,
Nothing's gonna change my world,
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Sounds of laughter shades of life are ringing
Through my opened ears inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying Love which shines around me like a
million suns, It calls me on and on
Across the universe
Jai guru deva, om,
Nothing's gonna change my world,
Nothing's gonna change my world.
